Tuesday, August 23rd 2016 – Kingston

Kingston continued to deliver solid sailing conditions for competitors in the Sail Canada Senior Championships & CORK OCR on Tuesday. The breeze picked up early and stayed in the 18 – 22 knot range through the day of racing. With the skiff event concluding yesterday, sailors in the Laser, Radial and Finn classes took centre stage.

Today marked the end of the competition for the Finn class, with three races on the day and a total of ten races throughout the event. Canadian Sailing Team (CST) athlete Kyle Martin (RVanYC – CAN) dominated the event with straight bullets. Rockall Evans (RBYC – BER) finished second, beating out Darrell Peck (USA) who finishes third by a narrow margin.

In the Laser fleet CST athlete Robert Davis (RCYC/KYC – CAN) continues to lead, followed by Justin Norton (BYC/OST) and Marshall Mccann (TCYC – USA). Haddon Hughes (TCYC – USA) leads the radial fleet with three race wins on the day. CST athlete Sarah Douglas (ABYC – CAN) sits in second and Andrea Aldana (ASOVELA – GUA) is third.
