CORK Fall Regatta and Ontario Championships

THE 2009 CORK regatta season concluded this weekend with the hosting of the Fall regatta. 125 sailors in 100 boats competed in light to medium breeze over two days of racing.
This year, the event was the Ontario Championship finals for Laser, Radial, 420, 29er and Optimist, as well as the 6th and final event for the District 3 Gold Cup series in Laser and Radial. See the results page.
During the 2009 CORK season, more than 1500 sailors have competed in Kingston, bringing many more officials, volunteers, coaches, chaperones and families to our city for an average stay of 4 days.
This concludes the 40th racing season for the CORK regattas. During the event ceremonies, Tim Irwin (Event Chair and Chair of the CORK Board of Directors) thanked all participants and in particular the City of Kingston and Kingston Tourism for their support. This year, Sport Canada through the Canadian Yachting Association and Ontario Sailing have been major partners along with many sponsors and suppliers that help make the CORK events possible. He also extended a special thank you to the many officials and volunteers that give freely of their time and expertise to help maintain CORK’s excellent reputation as an international event host.
In 2010, CORK will again host major events in June/July, August and September and we look forward to welcoming the World back to Kingston.
