Able Sail Kingston Fundraiser at the Kingston Yacht Club

March 22, 2012 at 7 pm – private screening of the sailing film The O CANADA Project with a talk afterwards by crew member Nathan Baron.

This is a charity event for  Able Sail Kingston , a program which offers sailing programs for Kingston’s community of disabled persons.

Featuring a 50 minute Documentary film called the O CANADA Project which was aired on CBC in December. Watch a trailer at: www.sailingaroundtheworld.tv/pages/ocp.html

Kingston’s own Offshore Phenom Nathan Baron was part of the crew aboard O CANADA.  Nathan will give a talk after the film describing not only his adventures aboard the Open 60 O CANADA but also updating everyone on the conclusion of his journey towards qualifying for the Mini Transat. Although he was unable to qualify for the event in 2011, in the attempt Nathan has singlehanded 1000′s of nautical miles of open oceans encountering strong winds, waves, and currents; dealing with endless fatigue and solitude.  Not to mention his sailing vessel was only 6.5 metres in length.   He has some fantastic stories to share.

Able Sail urges you to come to this event, to enjoy the film, learn more about Nathan’s astonishing adventures, and to support ABLE Sail Kingston.

There will be a silent auction, draw, and dessert tasting supported by local Kingston businesses.

Tickets  are $10 and can be purchased at the door or ahead of time by contacting the event coordinator, Serra at  7swb@queensu.ca

Looking for Gifts in Kind:  We are looking for donations of desserts, silent auction items, and funds to off set the cost of the event. Anyone who would like to donate can contact Serra at  7swb@queensu.ca
