Kingston, Ontario has been selected as the host city for the 2026 J/80 World Championships, bringing one of the world’s most competitive one-design keelboat classes back to Canada. The regatta will be held at CORK / Sail Kingston, an Olympic legacy venue known for its steady thermal breezes and exceptional race management.

“Kingston has a reputation as one of the best sailing venues in the world,” said David Sprague, Chair of CORK. “From the reliable wind to the vibrant sailing community, it’s the perfect stage for the J/80 Worlds.”

 

The announcement follows Kingston’s successful track record hosting international sailing events, including the 1976 Olympic sailing competition and multiple World and North American Championships across a variety of classes.

The J/80 Worlds in 2026 will mark another milestone for Kingston, reinforcing its status as Canada’s premier sailing destination. Each summer, athletes from around the globe gather on Lake Ontario for CORK regattas, drawn by the city’s unique mix of reliable freshwater conditions, professional race committees, and a welcoming community.
