Congratulations to Mary Wilson!

Mary Wilson’s volunteer work was celebrated and recognized with the Douglas A. Heath Award on Saturday July 7th 2018 at the Kingston Yacht Club.  Mary was presented the award by Douglas Heath’s son Nigel Heath.

Douglas Austin Heath was a long time volunteer with CORK. His involvement included being on the Board of Directors and Executive, administration of Opening and Closing Ceremonies, long term developments and much more. In his honour, the Douglas A. Heath Award is presented annually –when appropriate- at CORK. In deciding upon a recipient, the Award selection committee considers a volunteer’s involvement, level of commitment, type of contribution and length of involvement. It is intended that the involvement be of a quality comparable to that of Douglas A. Heath.   Douglas Heath was the epitome of an outstanding volunteer. Each year, as appropriate we honour his memory and one of our many outstanding volunteers by awarding the Douglas Heath Award.

Mary has been and continues to be an outstanding CORK volunteer with almost 40 years of service.

“Mary does it all. she provides leadership and accuracy. She’s one that the RO is able to confidently say, “Mary, the boat is yours”, knowing that all will be well and correctly done” Ross Cameron

“For the last 16 years Mary has been my “go to” person at CORK. She does it all. I have had her doing everything from setting marks to recording. She is truly deserving of this honour.”  Pat Lymburner

“On the rare days when I get to do RC work I ask myself – “how would Mary do this”? And then try to do it as well as Mary does.”  Tim Irwin

Thank you Mary – This honour is so very well deserved!
